Additional information
Description | It is not difficult to imagine why Delphiniums are known as the “Queen of the Border”. From a basal rosette of leaves rise tall spikes of majestic looking flowers in exquisite shades of blue, lavender, lilac, pink and white, all with contrasting white or dark centres. A bed of Delphiniums creates a spectacular display in the garden. They require a fertile, well-drained soil enriched with compost and a balanced fertiliser (such as 3:1:5). Delphiniums do best in a sunny aspect with some light afternoon shade. Ideal for: Borders, Cottage Gardens and Cut Flowers. Staking is necessary. Immediately after flowering, remove the flower spike – this will encourage additional spikes to form. |
